Imperial Engineering were appointed by Cubic Works to deliver the complete electrical installation package at 117–119 Portland Street, Manchester. The works formed part of a high-quality commercial refurbishment, transforming two interconnected city centre buildings into contemporary office accommodation with upgraded infrastructure throughout.
Our scope included LV distribution systems, rising busbar installation, sub mains cabling, lighting and emergency lighting, power, mechanical supplies, earthing and bonding, surge protection, data, and full containment systems.
The project featured extensive LDL and Tyson architectural lighting packages, integrated with intelligent control systems to provide flexible, energy-efficient illumination throughout the workspace.
Working within a live city-centre environment and on a complex multi-storey site required detailed planning and close coordination with the main contractor and other trades. The existing building infrastructure presented several challenges, particularly in integrating new containment and distribution routes within restricted ceiling and riser spaces.
A significant focus was placed on achieving seamless integration of the LDL and Tyson lighting systems with the lighting control network, ensuring both aesthetic impact and operational efficiency.
Our experienced team delivered the works on a fast-track programme, maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance while managing multiple supply chains and phased installations. Through careful design coordination, proactive communication, and strong on-site supervision, we achieved a high-quality finish fully aligned with Cubic Works’ expectations.
